Example calculation:
4m (width) x 2m (length) = 8m2 x 1.1 (10%) = 8.8m2
Board coverage = 1.92m2 (This is an example for Hardwood)
8.8 x 1.92m2 = 16.89 - 17 boards
Use this method to calculate how many boards you need to order to build your deck.
Regardless of the finished deck shape, measure the longest point (length) and the widest point (width).
Multiply the width by the length, e.g: 4m (width) x 2m (length) = 8m2. The resulting number is how many square meters your deck is covering.
If your finished deck is almost square with very few "cut outs" then add 10% to your square meterage figure (to allow for cuts and odd lengths), e.g: 8m2 x 1.1 = 8.8m2
Now divide the square meterage by the Coverage figure for your selected deck, look this up on the product page as each decking type can be different, e.g: 8.8m2 (square meterage) x 1.92 (Coverage) = 16.89
Finally round this up to whole boards and the result will be how many boards you need to build your deck, e.g: 17 boards for a 4m x 2m deck
